Japan: EAF manufacturers further reduce scrap procurement prices

Electric arc furnace (EAF) manufacturers in Japan’s Kanto region slashed scrap prices by JPY 1,000/tonne ($3/t), with H2 now at JPY 44,500-45,500/t ($305-311/t). This move followed Tokyo Steel’s similar cut and Totetsu’s reduction by JPY 500-1,000/t ($3-7/t), on yen appreciation, setting H2 at JPY 46,500/t ($318/t).
