    India’s sponge iron plant capacity in Financial Year (FY) 22 is 62.3 million tonnes (mnt). Of which 12.8 mnt is gas-based and 49.4 mnt is Coal-based. Odisha has the highest coal-based sponge iron plant capacity at 13.1 mnt, followed by Chattisgarh at 12.1 mnt and West Bengal 8.3 mnt.
