India: Union Cabinet greenlights INR 76,220-crore Vadhavan Port project to boost trade, employment

In June, the Union Cabinet approved the INR 76,220 crore Vadhavan Port project in Maharashtra. Expected to handle 20 million TEUs, the port will boost trade, create 1.2 million jobs, and support the India-Middle East-Europe Corridor and the International North-South Transportation Corridor. Its 20-metre draft will accommodate large ships with minimal dredging.
