Australian coal (5500 NAR) offers have increased by $4-5/t to $49/t, FoB Newcastle for February shipment after recent trades this week. A sharp rise in South African coal prices and China allowing Australian coal shipments waiting since May to unload at southern Chinese port of Fangchenggang has lent support to Australian thermal coal prices.
