Czech Republic to extend coal mining activity to secure energy supply
The Czech Republic has announced its plans to extend mining activities in the north-eastern regions of the country, also known as black coal region, to secure energy supply amid Russian sanctions. State-owned OKD company plans to mine 1.3 mnt of coal in 2023.Coal-fired power plants generate almost 50% of the country’s total electricity requirement.
