India’s power ministry, on 20 Feb’23, ordered imported coal-based power plants to operate at full capacity from 16 March for the next three months. The decision has come as power demand is expected to touch the peak level of 229 gigawatt (GW) in April. The directions are issued under Section-11 of the Electricity Act, 2003.
