Melting scrap prices improved marginally on a d-o-d basis on 17 Jan’22. Prices increased by around INR 200-500 across regional markets following a rise in coal prices which pushed up sponge iron and semi-finished steel prices. Prices may remain positive in the near term particularly in the western region’s Alang market, sources informed.
