Chilean state-owned Codelco, the world’s largest copper producer, has stopped its Ventanas smelter and refinery for maintenance after the authorities declared an environmental emergency in the region earlier this week. The measures taken by Codelco include installing a new temperature sensor to determine thermal inversion and quality of ventilation, SteelMint learnt from sources.
