Limited trade deals observed in Bangladesh imported scrap market –
Bangladesh scrap market remains more or less same as the last week with not much trades being noticed again this week. Offers too remained firm on W-o-W basis with slight downward corrections anticipated from buyers end. However, suppliers are eyeing for an increase in prices owing to increased freight charges and congestion at Chittagong port.
Importers are holding fresh bookings to put suppliers under pressure and remained expecting for further corrections but on the other hand, sellers are not quoting materials. Buyers would have to lift their buying prices to fetch materials against increasing freight charges for most of the transport routes and in concern of port congestion.
Current assessment for HMS 1 scrap from UK in containers is around USD 325/MT, CFR Chittagong.
Price assessment for Shredded scrap in containers stood at USD 325-330/MT, CFR Chittagong. These offers are slightly down than last week assessment which was stable at USD 335/MT, CFR level.
HMS (80:20) was offered at USD 315-320/MT while Busheling Bundle assessed at USD 340-345/MT and New Tin Can Bundle at USD 330-335/MT, CFR Port Chittagong. Some offers heard slightly above the current assessment but importers remained silent and adopted ‘wait & watch’ approach in buying over non workable range of offers.
As per few sources, buyers are trying to put suppliers under pressure to reduce offers, but no significant reduction has been noticed so far.
