China remained net exporter of ferrous scrap in Jul’17 with 0.17 MnT exports versus 0.14 MnT imports.
China world’s largest steel maker has witnessed fall in its ferrous scrap imports in July month in CY17. As per recently released customs data, China has imported 0.14 MnT ferrous scrap in Jul’17 and registered a drop of 26% M-o-M against 0.19 MnT ferrous scrap imports in Jun’17.
Thus, China turned out to be net exporter of ferrous scrap as in Jul’17 its scrap exports stood at 0.17 MnT.
On yearly premises, China has registered further declined of 18% Y-o-Y in its ferrous scrap imports as imports were at 0.17 MnT in Jul’16.
During Jan-Jul’17, the country has imported 1.45 MnT ferrous scrap which has shown 26% growth Y-o-Y against 1.15 MnT ferrous scrap imports during the same time frame of CY16 (Jan-Jul’17).
Japan remained the largest supplier of ferrous scrap to China –
Japan continued to supply highest occupying almost 86% share of total ferrous scrap imports in China in Jul’17.Japan exported 0.12 MnT in Jul’17 to China. However, exports from Japan lowered 25% M-o-M against 0.16 MnT Jun’17. South Korea exported 0.01 MnT ferrous scrap to China in Jul’17.
Ferrous scrap exports during Jan-Jul’17 period from Japan summed up to 1.06 MnT comprising 73% share of total ferrous scrap imports in China during Jan-Jul’17.
United States witnessed 2100% Y-o-Y rise in exports to China with 0.22 MnT ferrous scrap exports during Jan-Jul’17 against 0.01 MnT exports in Jan-Jul’16.
