Imported Scrap Offers to Turkey Move Up on Fresh Buying

Imported scrap offers to Turkey, world’s largest scrap importer, is observing an upward trend amid fresh bookings. Shredded scrap price assessment to Turkey from US has increased to USD 315/MT CFR and HMS 80:20 to USD 310/MT CFR Turkey.

Whereas HMS 80:20 price assessment to Turkey from Europe has increased to USD 305-310/MT CFR.

A steel producer in Turkey booked 27,000 MT of HMS 80:20 at USD 310/MT CFR, 10,000 MT shredded at USD 315/MT CFR and Bonus scrap at USD 320/MT CFR Turkey from a US based supplier.

ICDAS, Turkey’s second largest steel producer, booked US origin cargo at similar levels, however quantity was not known at the time of publishing. Another deal was settled at similar levels by SIMS US to Ekinciler.

This week several bulk deals have been reported on account of low inventory levels with Turkish mills and resistance from European suppliers at lower prices. Imported scrap prices have bounced back from levels below USD 300/MT to USD 310/MT CFR Turkey.
