Turkey: Iron Ore Imports Down 8% in Aug’17

The tenth largest importer of Iron ore -Turkey has seen decrease of 8% M-o-M in its monthly Imports in Aug’17. It imported 0.86 MnT iron ore in Aug’17 as it was 0.93 MnT in Jul’17. Turkey iron ore imports were however down Y-o-Y by 48% as it was at 0.58 MnT in Aug’16.

In the first Eight month of 2017 Turkey imported 7.42 MnT Iron ore, up 7 % against 6.87 MnT compare to same period last year 2016.

The non-agglomerated ore (Lumps and Fines) was imported 0.35 MnT down 48% M-o-M compared to 0.67 MnT in Jul’17 but it was up 35% Y-o-Y against Aug’16 which 0.26 MnT. In the first eight month of 2017 Non-agglomerated ore (Lumps and Fines) import were up 5% to 3.79 MnT compared to the same period last year 2016 which was at 3.62 MnT.

Agglomerated ore (pellets and concentrates) were imported 0.51 MnT up by almost two times M-o-M against Jul’17 which was 0.26 MnT. It was down 55% Y-o-Y compared to same month last year which was at 0.33 MnT then. There was an improvement of 11% in imports for agglomerated ore (pellets and concentrates), in the first eight months of 2017 it was 3.62 MnT compare to same period last year 2016 which was 3.26 MnT then.

Country’s iron ore imports were majorly from Brazil 0.34 MnT, Russia 0.19 MnT & Sweden 0.17 MnT and Ukraine 0.16 MnT
