US government agency has reported that in the week ended on 10th August 2013, US coal production totaled approximately 20.1 million short tons (mmst). The recent week's production which ended on 10th August 2013 is marginally up by 0.8% in comparison of last week and 1.5% higher than the production estimate in the comparable weeks in 2012
Coal production for east of the Mississippi River totaled 8.1 mmst and for west of the Mississippi River totaled 12 million metric short tons.(mmst)
U.S. year-to-date coal production totaled 603.7 mmst, 3.3% lower than the comparable year-to-date coal production in 2012.
US production in August '13 was 40 mmst including all type of coal (Anthracite, Bituminous coal, Lignite etc).
