According to the latest customs data, Japan flat steel imports which includes 7208 (HR coils /Plates), 7209 (CR coils), 7225 (Electrical sheets), 7210/7212(GP/GC) witness the decline of 8%,M-o-M basis to 0.37 MnT in Aug’17 against to 0.4 MnT in Jul’17.
On yearly basis, nation’s flat steel imports went down by 10% in Aug’17 in comparison with 0.41 MnT recorded in Aug’16.
In the tenure of Jan-Aug’17 nation’s flat steel import increases by 8.3% to 3 MnT against 2.77 MnT in similar time frame of previous year.

South Korea was the largest exporter of flat steel to Japan in Aug’17- In Aug’17 South Korea exported 0.24 MnT of flat steel to Japan followed by Taiwan which stood at 0.08 MnT and China at 0.06 MnT.
From Jan-Aug’17 South Korea was the major flat steel exporter to Japan and occupies the share of 67.27 % of share.Other major countries include Taiwan with 21% of share and China with 11% of share.
