In Taiwan, 6.3 MnT of coal was imported in Aug’17, and that was stable in comparison with the imports in Jul’17, shows an analysis done by CoalMint Research on the data released by Taiwan Customs. On the other hand, the imports during the month were 16.92% higher on a year-on-year basis.
Out of the total imports during the month, 6.12 MnT was Bituminous Coal, and the volume was unchanged over that in the preceding month. Sub-bituminous coal imports were at 0.15 MnT, which had fallen 9.85% over the imports in Jul’17. And, Anthracite Coal imports during the month were insignificant, at only 493 MT.
During the month under consideration, 3.45 MnT was imported from Australia; 1.8 MnT from Indonesia; and 0.5 MnT from Russia.
Coal imports in Taiwan during the Jan-Aug’17 period were up by 10.52%, at 47.88 MnT, over that in the year-ago period.
