According to the recent provisional data released by World Steel Association (WSA),the total crude steel production of 67 steel manufacturing countries rose by 6% ,Y-o-Y basis in Aug’17 to 143.6 MnT which was 135.1 MnT in Aug’16.
However on monthly basis world crude steel output witnessed marginal rise of 0.3%, M-o-M basis in Aug’17 against 143.2 MnT in Jul’17.
So far in CY17 (till Aug’17), world’s crude steel production stood at 1,121.7 MnT against 1,069.2 MnT in same time frame last year, up by 5%.

China’s crude steel output increases by 9% Y-o-Y basis in Aug’17-China’s crude steel output increased by 9% ,Y-o-Y to 74.59 MnT in Aug’17 against 68.62 MnT in Aug’16. On monthly basis,China’s crude steel production rose slightly by 0.7% in Aug’17 as compared to 74 MnT in Jul’17.
Japan crude steel production drop by 2% Y-o-Y in Aug’17 – In Aug’17 nation’s crude steel moved down by 2%,Y-o-Y basis to 8.73 MnT against 8.91 MnT in Aug’16. However on M-o-M basis,Japan’s crude steel production rose by 2% compared to 8.59 MnT in Jul’17.
India’s crude steel output Up by 4%Y-o-Y in Aug’17 – According to data released by World Steel Association,India’s crude steel output stood at 8.47 MnT,higher by 4% in Aug’17 against 8.14 MnT in Aug’16.However on monthly basis India’s crude steel output slightly up by 1% in Aug’17 in comparison with 8.36 MnT in Jul’17.
South Korea crude steel output jumped 5% Y-o-Y basis in Aug’17-South Korea’s crude steel production was recorded at 6.16 MnT rises by 5%,Y-o-Y basis in Aug’17 against 5.87 MnT in Aug’16.On monthly basis,South Korea crude steel output remained stable on yearly premises.
However,crude steel production of other top steel producing countries in Aug’17 are as follows United States: 7.06 MnT, Russia: 5.6 MnT and Brazil: 2.96 MnT.
