Russia Billet Exports Fall 2% in July’17 – Customs Data

Russia is one of the largest exporter of billet from CIS nations and has been actively involved in the exporters market. According to the fresh released data by Russia’s custom, the billet exports from the nation slump by 1.78% M-o-M in July 2017.

Russia’s billet export are reported at 1.10 MnT in Jul’17 against 1.12 MnT in Jun’17. Prior to this, on M-o-M in June’17 it decreased about 5.08% against 1.18 MnT in May’17.

Similarly, on yearly premises, billet exports declined sharply by 5.98% in Jul’17 against 1.17 MnT in Jul’16.

In the first 7 months of CY17 (Jan-Jul’17), billet exports declined marginally by 3.26% to 8.29 MnT against 8.57 MnT in CY16 in same duration.

With rising Steel demand from South East Asian countries, the crude steel production of Russia was marked at 70.84 MnT in 2016. Meanwhile, in 2017 (Jan’17-Jul’17) the figure of crude steel production stood at 41.04 MnT.

Country wise:

During July 2017, the largest importer of Russia made Billet/Blooms was Turkey, Mexico & Belgium which imported 250,000 MT, 220,000 MT & 120,000 MT respectively.

Similarly the total Billet exports during CY 2017 (Jan-Jul), the major buyers of Russian Billets was – Taiwan followed by Turkey which remained second largest importer of Russian billet and imported around 1.74 MnT which is 21.04% to total billet exports. Inline Turkey 1.42 MnT (17.12%), Mexico 1.13 MnT (13.62%) & Belgium 1.02 MnT (12.27%).
