Canada: Ferrous Scrap Exports Down 38% M-o-M in Jul’17

Canada-one amongst the major scrap exporters has witnessed a fall in its ferrous scrap exports in Jul’17 against exports of Jun’17. As per recent Canadian customs data, the nation has exported 0.27 MnT ferrous scrap in Jul’17.

The exports volumes have lowered in Jul’17 by 38% M-o-M compared with 0.43 MnT ferrous scrap exports shipped in Jun’17. On yearly premises, the export volumes have moved up by 8% Y-o-Y against 0.25 MnT exports in Jul’16.

During the first seven months of CY17(Jan-Jul’17), Canada exported 2.33 MnT ferrous scrap thus a rise of 32% registered against 1.77 MnT ferrous scrap exports during the first seven months in CY16(Jan-Jul’16). While the country had exported total 3.37 MnT ferrous scrap over a span of CY16.

USA remained the preferred destination for Canadian ferrous scrap exports:

USA remained the preferred importer for Canadian ferrous scrap exports and it has imported 0.21 MnT scrap in Jul’17. Turkey continued as a 2nd largest importer of Canadian scrap so far in CY17, but remained silent with nil import volumes in Jul’17 however, Turkey had imported 0.11 MnT ferrous scrap in Jun’17.

In Jul’17, Mexico imported 0.03 MnT ferrous scrap from Canada Followed by Taiwan and Bangladesh shared 0.01 MnT each of Canadian scrap exports.

During the first seven months of CY17, United States lifted highest 1.77 MnT ferrous scrap occupying almost 76% of total Canadian ferrous scrap exports followed Turkey (0.26 MnT), Mexico (0.13 MnT) and Taiwan (0.04 MnT) respectively.

China, India, and Bangladesh each have imported 0.03 MnT ferrous scrap so far (Jan-Jul’17) in CY17 from Canada.
