India’s largest iron ore miner – NMDC in total supplied 264 rakes from its Bailadila mines in Chhattisgarh last month against 253 rakes in Jul’17. NMDC’s iron ore supply from Bailadila mines has increased by 4% M-o-M in Aug’17. In the month of Jul’17, the miner had kept iron ore prices unchanged.
Outside C.G. based units raised iron ore sourcing by 6% – Iron ore procurement of outside C.G. based units increased 6% M-o-M to 188 rakes in Aug’17 against 178 rakes in Jul’17. RINL (Vizag Steel) increased sourcing by 47% and sourced 116 iron ore rakes in Aug’17 against 79 rakes in Jul’17.
JSW Steel procured only 7 rakes from NMDC in Aug’17 compared to 31 rakes in Jul’17.
KIOCL reduced iron ore sourcing by 21% M-o-M from 58 rakes in Jul’17 to 46 rakes in Aug’17.
C.G. based sponge units iron ore sourcing up by 17% in Aug’17 – C.G. based sponge iron units sourced 42 rakes from NMDC (C.G.) in Aug’17 compared to 36 rakes in Jul’17. It is to be noted that C.G. based units procure 60 to 70 rakes on an average in a month from NMDC. Sponge prices have been up around INR 1,900-2,400/MT in Aug’17 due to good demand and less supply.
Movement for exports decreased in Aug’17 – NMDC loaded 34 rakes for export in Aug’17 compared to 39 rakes in Jul’17.
