Anthracite Coal Offers Drift Up on Higher Coking Coal Prices

Anthracite Coal global offers have risen marginally, following the escalating trend exhibited by Coking Coal prices.

The latest Anthracite Coal offers were assessed at around USD 135/MT CFR India, up by around USD 2/MT than the week-ago offers.

However, the movement in the offers will have no impact upon Indian buyers as they do not prefer using the coal. Indian buyers prefer alternate fuels that have resulted in the Anthracite Coal market remaining sluggish. There is also no prospect for the market to improve in the future.

As there is almost no buying tendency among the country’s buyers, imports of the Anthracite Coal have remained insignificant. During the 1-30 Aug’17 period, only 75,450 MT of Anthracite Coal was imported in India, data compiled by CoalMint Research shows.

The importers were: KIOCL Limited, JSL, IMFA and Rashmi Metaliks.
