As per customs data maintained with SteelMint, four new bulk scrap import vessels are expected to arrive soon in Bangladesh.
As per sources, these cargoes were booked towards end of July which are being delivered now.
As per data, among upcoming 4 vessels two vessels booked from USA and other two booked from Japan. A Vessel named ‘New Inspiration’ loaded with 31,850 MT ferrous scrap from San Francisco port, USA is expected to arrive on 25-Aug’17.
Vessel ‘Intrepid Joanne’ and ‘Harmony SW’ were loaded from Nishi and Kinuura ports, Japan carrying 25,010 MT and 9,510 MT scrap respectively are expected to arrive on 26 Aug’17 and 27 Aug’17 in Bangladesh.
The fourth vessel ‘Cielo Di Venezia’ from USA is expected to unload 34,790 MT ferrous scrap on Chittagong port on 27 Aug’17.
After arrival of upcoming vessels the total ferrous scrap imports will sum up to 0.17 MnT in the country in Aug’17.In Jul’17 Bangladesh ferrous scrap imports stood at 0.02 MnT.
Bangladesh has raised its ferrous scrap imports significantly in this fiscal. Amid various development projects and economic growth, the country is now planning to become self-independent in billet production. Which has enhanced the ferrous scrap imports further in the country.
