Taiwan: Ferrous Scrap Imports Down Marginally 3 % M-o-M in Jun’17

As per recent customs data maintained with SteelMint, Taiwan-one of the prime scrap importers has witnessed a fall in its ferrous scrap imports marginally by 3 % M-o-M in Jun’17 against imports in May’17.

Ferrous scrap imports to the country stood at 0.29 MnT in Jun’17 against 0.30 MnT ferrous scrap imports in May’17.Imports were down 15 % Y-o-Y compared with 0.34 MnT ferrous scrap imports in Jun’16.

In the first half of CY17 (Jan-Jun’17), Taiwan has imported 1.39 MnT ferrous scrap registering fall of 9.74 % against 1.54 MnT imports in the same period of CY16.

United States remained the largest ferrous scrap supplier to Taiwan –

United States exported highest 0.11 MnT ferrous scrap to Taiwan in Jun’17 which has declined 26.66 % against 0.15 MnT in May’17.

Japan-second largest supplier of ferrous scrap to Taiwan has exported 0.04 MnT consecutively since past 3 months(Apr-Jun’17).China has raised exports to Taiwan since couple of months and exported 0.06 MnT ferrous scrap in Jun’17.

In Jun’17, other major scrap exporters to Taiwan were Australia, Dominican Republic, Hong Kong and South Korea with each of them contributed 0.01 MnT ferrous scrap respectively.

During first half of CY17, out of 1.39 MnT imports United States shared highest 0.64 MnT occupying 46 % share followed by Japan (16.5 %), China (6.5 %), Australia (5.7 %) and Dominican Republic (4.3 %).
