China mills keep march prices unchanged, prices to move up post holidays

China Steel Corp, decided to unchanged its
prices for March. Company has reduced prices in January and February. “Although
global steel prices have started climbing, the company still decided to keep
March prices of all steel products unchanged to ensure downstream customers'
competitiveness,” Taiwan's largest steel producer by revenue said in a
statement Thursday.

The company said local prices of major steel
products have also bottomed out, and some downstream customers' export orders
have resumed growth, with demand “likely to pick up after the Lunar New
Year holidays.”

The company had cut January-February prices by
an average of 7.08% due to sluggish demand and falling global steel prices.

Analysts said the market had widely expected
the company to keep March prices flat, despite the global steel price rebound.
