Anthracite Coal imports in India remained insignificant as buyers were in almost no mood to import the fuel.
In July’17, Anthracite Coal imports in India touched seven month low, at only 67,430 MT. In comparison with the preceding month, the imports in the seventh month of the current year fell by 63.46%. In Jun’17, the imports were at 184,547 MT. In a year-on-year comparison also, the July’17 imports were lower by 32.97% over the imports of 100,600 MT in July’16.
Given the sluggish atmosphere prevailing in India, there seems to be no possibility for the demand to improve in the future.
On the pricing side, the global Anthracite Coal offers have undergone no change from that in the week last. The offers are assessed steady at around USD 130/MT CFR India. However, the offers might increase in the near future as Coking Coal prices are sky-rocketing.
