Mv. Smart just run a ground to the left of the Richards Bay entrance. Vessel had completed loading and sailed on Monday early morning and she lost its steering and hit a sand bank in 10 meter swell.
She is breaking up behind hatch 7 & 8. According to information received the vessel was fully loaded with 147,650 m/tons of coal on board.
The port of Richards Bay is closed for incoming traffic and will be re-opened once the investigation had been finalized.
