According to the South African customs, the country has witnessed an increase of 12% M-o-M in its Ferro Alloy exports.
In Jun’17, South Africa exported a total of 2.71 MnT Ferro Alloys, Manganese Ore and Chrome Ore against 2.43 MnT in May’17. Moreover, on yearly basis, there has been a substantial increase of 25% Y-o-Y in its exports volume which stood at 2.16 MnT in Jun’16.
Manganese Ore occupied the major volume of South African Ferro Alloy exports at 1.43 MnT in Jun’17 registering an increase of 4% M-o-M.
South Africa also exported 1.01 MnT Chrome Ore in Jun’17, witnessing an increase of 35% M-o-M against May’17. However, South African Ferro Chrome and Silico Manganese exports registered a decrease of 11% and 33% respectively.
China remains the largest importer of South African Ferro Alloys and Ores at 1.48 MnT in Jun’17, recording a substantial increase of 30% against 1.14 MnT in May’17. In Jun’17, India surpassed Mozambique to become the second largest importer of South African Ferro alloys (including Manganese Ore and Chrome Ore) at 0.28 MnT while Mozambique imported 0.27 MnT.
