Turkey, the world’s 3rd largest Pig iron importer has imported about 0.09 MnT Pig iron in June 2017, according to trade statistics released data by Turkey’s custom.
The imports have registered a growth of 80% M-o-M in June’17 against 0.05 MnT in May’17. On the contrary, imports were up by 50% Y-o-Y against 0.06 MnT in June’16.
Although, on yearly premises against H1 CY 2016, the imports is down by 29% in H1 CY 2017, from 0.55 MnT (H1 2016) to 0.39 MnT(H2 2017).
Country wise:
During June 2017, the largest exporter of Pig Iron to Turkey was Russia & Ukraine which exports about 0.20 MnT & 0.10 MnT, respectively.
Similarly, in the total Pig Iron imports during 2017 (Jan-Jun’17), the major sellers of pig iron to Turkey was – Russia (51.47%), Ukraine (27.325%), Germany (9.54%) & India (6.40%).

1. In the month of June 2017, Turkey imports approximately 0.76 MnT of iron ore, which is down by 17.4 % against May’17.
2. Substitutes like Scrap imports also fallen by approximately 38% on monthly basis to 1.29 MnT in June’17 against 2.1 MnT in May’17
3. Presently, export offers of basic grade Pig iron are at USD 335/MT FoB India & USD 340/MT FoB Russia.
4. Imported scrap (HMS 80:20) offers are currently in Turkey at USD 322-325/MT, CFR.
