According to the latest customs data, Japan flat steel imports which includes 7208 (HR coils /Plates), 7209 (CR coils), 7225 (Electrical sheets), 7210/7212(GP/GC) have edge up by 9% to 2.23 MnT in H1CY17 in contrast to 2.05 MnT in first half of 2016.
If monthly comparison is made, nation’s flat steel imports remained unchanged at 0.38 MnT in Jun’17.
However on yearly basis nation’s flat steel imports surged significantly by 23% in Jun’17 against 0.31 MnT in Jun’16

South Korea accounted for nearly 70% share in Japan flat steel imports in H1 CY17- Korea stood as the major flat steel exporter to Japan and accounted for 1.56 MnT of flat steel in H1CY17 .Other major countries include Taiwan and China.
