Indian Chrome Ore Production Decreases by 22% M-o-M in Jun’17

Odisha contributes almost entirely towards chrome ore production in India. Chrome ore production in Odisha has been recorded at 2, 29,715 MT in Jun’17. It is about 22% below the production witnessed in May’17.

Productions by captive miners have increased marginally by 10% M-o-M. FACOR witnessed a substantial decrease of around 66% in its production and Balasore Alloys recorded a decrease of 11% in production on M-o-M basis. IMFA on the other hand had produced 28,094 MT in Jun’17 against null production in May’17.
Also, IDCOL registered an increase of 22% M-o-M in its production in Jun’17.

TATA Steel, one of the largest merchant miners in the country, registered a marginal fall of 9% in its production along with OMC, which recorded a decrease of 3% in its production. However, B.C. Mohanty & Sons registered a substantial increase of 23% in its production.
