Steel Authority of India (SAIL), government owned and second largest steel producer has floated an export tender for 13,000-15,000 MT billets from its Durgapur Steel plant for September end shipment.

Quantity- 13,000-15,000 MT
Specifications – 4SP and 5SP
Size- 125*125mm
Length – 9-12 metres
Delivery- FOB Haldia
Bid Date- 20th Jul’17 till 15:00 hrs
SAIL’s previous billet export tender for 10,000-15,000 MT which expired on 24 Jun’17 did not receive good response. As per sources the highest bid received was at around USD 395/MT, FoB Haldia. Company expected bids around USD 415/MT FoB. Owing to disparity between bids expected and received, the company cancelled the tender.
Indian Billet exports jumped two fold in FY17 – The total export of semi finished goods under chapter 7207 was 1.94 MnT as compared 0.97 MnT in FY 16. JSW Steel, Vizag Steel, SAIL and JSPL remained key exporters from India.
