SCCL Inks Coal Supply Agreement with KPCL

Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has inked an agreement with the Karnataka Power Corporation Limited (KPCL) to supply 8.1 MnT of coal during the current fiscal. Under the agreement, SCCL will supply 3 MnT of coal to the Raichur Thermal Power Station, 2 MnT to the Yerramarru Thermal Power Station and 3.1 MnT to the Bellary Thermal Power Station.

Essar Power Mulls Cheap Coal Imports

Bogged down by volatility in coal prices, Essar Power Limited is learnt to be mulling importing coal from countries other than Indonesia. As landed costs of coal imports from Indonesia have been rising, impacting its margins, the power producer is weighting options for importing coal from Russia, Mongolia, China, Australia and Cambodia to insulate its Salaya power plant in Gujarat from volatility in coal prices.

Mozambique  to Ship Maiden Coking Coal Cargo to Australia

In what could be seen as a first of its kind, the Brazilian mining major—Vale—has fixed an export consignment of 70,000 MnT of Coking Coal to be shipped from the Nacala port in Mozambique to the Kembla port in Australia. The loading of the coal onto the cargo vessel is fixed  between 13-15 July’17. Incidentally, this will be the first Coking Coal shipment between the two countries.
