China: Coal Imports Down in Jun’17

As fallout of lower demand, coal imports in China in Jun’17 had dipped by 2.6% over the imports in the previous month, the recently released data by China Customs shows.

According to the Customs Data, 21.60 MnT of coal was imported in that country in Jun’17, and that was a decline of 0.59 MnT from the imports of 22.19 MnT in May’17.

In Jun’16, 21.75 MnT of coal was imported in China, and that was marginally higher by 0.6% year-on-year.

In contrast, the imports during the Jan-Jun’17 period increased by 23.5% to 133.26 MnT, representing an increase of 25.32 MnT from the imports during the same period of the preceding year.

In regard to exports, coal exports from China in Jun’17 were at 0.73 MnT, a decrease of 44.2% month-on-month, but an increase of 10.6% year-on-year.

The Customs Data shows that 1.31 MnT of coal was exported from China in May’17, and the exports in Jun’16 were at 0.66 MnT.
