China: Plate Export Offers Uptick Over Domestic Gains

Chinese mills have raised the plate export offers this week by USD 5/MT owing to optimistic market sentiments prevailing in the domestic market.

Current plate export offers are assessed in the range of USD 445-450/MT, FoB China.Last week the prices was in the range of USD 440-445/MT,FoB basis.

Meanwhile domestic prices of plate are assessed in the range of RMB 3,330-3,350/MT which is equivalent to USD 483-490/MT including VAT.

Major mills are quoting plate offers in the range of USD 455/MT,FoB basis.Although few deals have been concluded to Vietnam in small quantities at around USD 445/MT.Their is no scope of bargaining from overseas buyers as the chinese mills are getting higher realizations in domestic market.

India-Domestic Plate Prices Remain Unchanged over Dull Buying
Indian plate prices remain unchanged this week owing to pessimistic and dull buying activity in the domestic market.Besides this,Indian mills are waiting for GST to roll out which gives clear picture about plate prices in domestic market.

According to SteelMint price assessment, HR Plate reference prices are heard in the range of INR 33,000-34,000/MT(ex-Mill).Prices are exclusive of Excise duty of 12.5% and VAT/CST.

However in major markets, plate reference prices are hovering in the range of INR 39,000/MT (ex-Delhi) and INR 38,500-39,000/MT (ex-Mumbai). Prices are inclusive of Excise duty of 12.5%,VAT/CST extra.

A trader based in Mumbai quoted” Plate prices remain stable since no movement is taking place in the domestic market over rolling out of GST in the next two days.”

Bookings and deals have been put on hold and shall be concluded post GST implementation in the domestic market, he added.
