India: Performance of SCCL During May’17

The Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) is a Government coal mining company jointly owned by the Government of Telangana and Government of India on a 51:49 equity basis.

Ministry of Coal has released performance review of SCCL which are summarized below.

Coal Production:
Singareni Collieries Company Ltd(SCCL) have recorded a growth in their monthly coal production. The company has produced 5.05 MnT coal during May’17 against 4.49MnT coal produced in Apr’17.

Coal production has also increased by 3% Y-o-Y compared with 4.9 MnT in May’16.

Coal Dispatch:
SCCL’s coal dispatch has fallen to 5.25 MnT in May’17, down by 2% M-o-M compared with 5.37 MnT in Apr’17. However, coal dispatch has increased 6.71% Y-o-Y in May’17 compared with 4.92 MnT in Apr’16.

During Apr’17-May’17, the company has dispatched 10.62 MnT coal with an increase of 11.09% compared with 9.56 MnT dispatched during Apr’16-May’16.

Dispatch to Power sector:
Coal dispatch to power sector has fallen on the monthly basis by 4% to 4.3 MnT. The company has dispatched 4.5 MnT to power sector in Apr’17.

On the yearly basis, coal dispatch to power sectior increased 4% compared with 4.132 MnT in May’16.

SCCL has dispatched 8.8 MnT coal during FY18( Apr’17-May’17), with an increase of 10.9% Y-o-Y compared with 8 Mnt during Apr’16-May’16.

Coal E-Auction:
Coal e-auction was conducted  on two consecutive days 30 May’17 and 31 May’17. The coal allotment was done through both Rail and Road mode.

Major Coal Receivers:

Nava Bharat Energy acquired highest coal quantity in this months’ e-auction, followed by Dhariwal Infrastructure, RINL, Vikas Coal and Minerals and Manikgarh Cements.
