South Korea : Flat Steel Exports Moved Down 4% M-o-M in May’17

According to the latest customs data, South Korea flat steel exports which includes 7208 (HR coils /Plates),7209 (CR coils), 7225 (Electrical sheets),7210/7212(GP/GC) have reported the decline of 4%, M-o-M basis in May’17 and stood at 1.81 MnT as compared to 1.88 MnT in Apr’17.

However on yearly basis, South Korean flat steel exports,fall marginally by 0.5% in May’17 against 1.82 MnT in May’16.

During the period of Jan-May’17 country’s flat steel exports rose by 0.8% to 9.39 MnT against 9.31 MnT in similar time-frame of previous year.

If grade-wise analysis is made, then HRC/Plates exports decline by 12%,M-o-M in May’17 against Apr’17 whereas GP/GC and electrical sheets have shown significant growth in May’17 against previous month.

Country-wise South Korea Flat Steel Exports in May’17

China remained the major flat steel importer to South Korea and accounts for 16.64% of share in May’17.Other major countries include Japan,India followed by Mexico and Indonesia.
