To cater to the rising demand during the summer season, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) of China has allowed some coal miners in that country to ramp up production levels.
In this regard, the NDRC said that both open pit and underground mines will be allowed to raise the production as long as there will be no major accidents, and the strict safety measures are maintained.
However, coal producers, which have complex geological conditions, vulnerable to accidents or have been asked by the government to cut supply will not be able to increase the production, according to NDRC.
The latest relaxation of production norms by the NDRC came in the wake of the recent rise in coal futures due to the increasing demand on account of the Thermal Plants consuming higher coal quantities in the summer season.
