South Korea, the largest importer have registered an increase in pig iron imports by two fold M-o-M in May’17.
In May’17 the country has imported about 0.03 MnT pig iron against 0.01 MnT in Apr’17 which is a surge of 200%.
Further, in the first 5 months of 2017 (Jan-May), the nation has imported about 0.11 MnT pig iron; down by 42% as compared to 0.19 MnT in the same preceding last year.
The country imports majority of Pig iron from Russia, China, Indonesia etc. Although in May’17, imports were largely from South Africa at 0.02 MnT followed by China at 0.01 MnT.
