India imported around 0.27 MnT of Manganese Ore in May’17 against 0.22 MnT in Apr’17.
According to Customs data, Indian Manganese Ore import has surged significantly up by 23% M-o-M to 0.27 MnT in May’17 as compared to 0.22 MnT in Apr’17.
On Y-o-Y basis, India’s Manganese Ore imports rose by massive 59% in May’17 against May’16. In May’16 the same stood at 0.17 MnT.
India relies heavily on Manganese Ore imports, and half of its Manganese Ore requirement is fulfilled through imported Ore. South Africa remained the largest exporter of Manganese Ore to India in May’17 followed by Brazil, while Australia and Gabon exported equal amounts this month.
South Africa witnessed an increase of 58% M-o-M in its Manganese Ore exports to India, and contributed towards 70% of total Manganese Ore Imports by India in May’17. Other major exporters to India in May’17 are Brazil, Australia and Gabon.
East-Coast based Vishakhapatnam and Kolkata port handles the majority of Manganese Ore shipments, and same is the case in May’17.
