Indian Mill Scale Exports at 57,900 MT in May’17

Mill scale exports from India were recorded at 57,900 MT in May’17 against 40,700 MT in Apr’17, according to customs data maintained with SteelMint. In first two months of this fiscal (Apr-May’17) Indian mill scale exports amounted to a total of 98,600 MT.

Vizag port accounted for the largest share in May’17 Indian mill scale exports – Vizag port remained the major port for mill scale exports in May’17 at 22,900 MT followed by Kandla port at 20,000 MT and Haldia port at 15,000 MT.

Party-wise mill scale exports from India in May’17 – “Ashapura” exported 22,900 MT mill scale from Vizag port to Chinain May’17. “KK Resources” exported 15,000 MT mill scale from Haldia port to China in May’17. Another exporter shipped 20,000 MT mill scale to Malaysia from Kandla port.

65% of Indian mill scale exported in May’17 was to China – Out of 57,900 MT mill scale exported from India in May’17, 37,900 MT was exported to China. Rest quantity was exported to Malaysia.

Indian mill scale export price scenario in May’17 – Indian mill scale export offers (Fe 70/68%) remained range bound at USD 40-42/MT, FoB India which is equivalent to USD 62-64/MT, CNF China.
