World’s 5th largest iron ore exporter Canada has exported 2.6 MnT iron ore in Apr’17 as per trade statistics released by Canadian Customs.
Iron ore export has registered a decrease of 7% M-o-M as it was around 2.79 MnT in Mar’17. Similarly country’s iron ore exports have decreased by 17% Y-o-Y compared with the month of Apr’16 where it was 3.12 MnT then.
In first four months of 2017, the country exported 11.54 MnT iron ore and witnessed a downfall of 4% compared to the last year, as the country exported 12.09 MnT last year for the same period.
In Apr’17, the agglomerated iron ore (pellets and concentrate) exports were registered at 1.05 MnT down 23%, compared to Mar’17 which was at 1.36 MnT, however, were down by 8% Y-o-Y as it was 1.43 MnT in Apr’16.
The non-agglomerated iron ore (lumps & fines) exports were registered at 1.55 MnT in Apr’17, up M-o-M by 8% as it was 1.43 MnT in Mar’17. It was down Y-o-Y as well by 8% as it were 1.69 MnT in Apr’16.
Country-wise Canada iron ore exports
France was the largest importer for the month with 0.47 MnT iron ore in Apr’17 up by 113% M-o-M against 0.22 MnT in Mar’17. The nation imported 0.3 MnT iron ore in Apr’16.
South Korea was the second largest iron ore importer with 0.39 MnT iron ore in Apr’17.
Netherlands turned out to be the third largest iron ore importer at 0.27 MnT for the month of Apr’17, down 41% as it was 0.46 MnT in Mar’17.
