USA the largest importer of Pig Iron registered a steep rise in the imports by 15% in Apr’17 to 489,629 MT as compared to 425,473 MT in Mar’17,according to recent data released by USA customs.
The nation, also registered a marginal increase in imports by 3%, Y-o-Y compared to Apr’16. The total pig iron imports to US was recorded at 3.87 MnT in CY16
In the first four months (Jan-Apr) of 2017, the country’s imports were registered at 1.11 MnT, surge by 43% to 1.59 MnT in the same time period prior this year.

US is major consumer of Russian and Brazilian Pig Iron with 288,081 MT and 108,556 MT respectively imported from these two nations. Ukraine remained the third largest exported to US with 71,231 MT for the same duration
