Petcoke Imports in India in May’17 Down 11.54% M-o-M

Petcoke imports in India in May’17 were down by 11.54% over the imports in Apr’17, according to an analysis by CoalMint Research. The imports in Apr’17 were also lower by 29.23% against that in Apr’16, the analysis also shows.

The import data collected by CoalMint Research shows that the imports during Apr’17 were at 0.92 MnT, which were lower than the imports, at 1.04 MnT, in the preceding month. The imports in Apr’17 also trailed behind the imports of 1.30 MnT in the same month of the previous year, the data further shows.petcokeimportsSource: CoalMint Research

During the month under review, the largest share of imports was from USA, followed by that from Saudi Arabia, conforming to the usual trend. However, a region-wise comparison indicates that imports from USA during the month in comparison with that in Apr’17 were down; while, that from Saudi Arabia were higher than that in the previous month. The shrinkage in the imports from USA was due to the shortage prevailed there due the exports getting intense as a consequence of the rising import demand from China and South Africa.

Notably, Apr’17 also saw arrival of imports from Canada and Bahrain.

Among the various ports in the country, the Kandla port had handled the highest volume of imports during the month under consideration; followed by the Karaikal and Krishnapatnam ports.

The importers during the month were: Ultratech Cement, Shree Cement, India Cement, Ambuja Cement, Dalmia Cement, JSW, Nirma, Ramco Cement, Hindustan National Glass and Industries, among others.
