South Africa Coal Rail Repair Period Shortened:
State-controlled Rail Company, Transnet Freight Rail (TFR) which moves coal from mines to the port, has shortened its annual maintenance period for the main South African coal export line.
Maintenance along the line to RBCT from mines will take place on 11-17 Jul’17. The maintenance work will take 7 days instead of the usual 10 because some of the work has already been completed.
In Jan’17, TFR had planned RBCT line maintenance for 10 days over 11-20 Jul’17.
Line maintenance period had been moved from May’17 to Jul’17 to better align with India’s monsoon season which runs from June-September.
