India: JSW Steel Allocates 25,000 MT Billets for Exports

India’s largest and private steel manufacturer JSW Steel has allocated 25,000 MT of billets for exports according to market participants. This is after quite some time that company is offering billets in export market.

According to participants,company is offering 15,000 MT billets of size 165*165mm and 10,000 MT billets of size 130*130mm for June/July loading.

Participants feel that company would be expecting a price level of USD 410-415/MT FOB levels, which is higher than CIS and Iranian billets. Recent tender of 10,000 MT of size 90*90 mm by Vizag steel (a Indian government owned steel maker) was concluded at USD 400/MT FoB India east coast.

JSW’s last billet (130*130 mm) export shipment was recorded in the month of Feb’17 to South-east Asian nations from Dolvi, Maharashtra based plant.

JSW is India’s largest steel producer with an annual crude steel production of 15.8 MnT in FY17. Company’s exports have increased significantly in FY17 (Apr’16 – Mar’17) owing to higher prices in global market.
