In a latest revelation, the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) has said that more than 82% regions of India will be power surplus in FY18, although not ruling out that power deficiency will continue to prevail in some regions of the country.
The apex body has further claimed that there will be 8.8% surplus energy and the peak-hour surplus will be at 6.8% during the fiscal. Out of the 29 states in the country, 23 will have surplus power; and 7 out of 8 union territories will have power in excess of the demand, the CEA claimed.
The body also has not ruled out the occurrences of power outages in the states due to financial constrains and technical issues. At the same time, power deficit will continue to prevail in some states in the northern, eastern and north-eastern regions of the country, while, surplus power will be available in the southern and western states in India, the body asserted.
