Odisha – India’s largest iron ore producing state accounts for nearly 50% of country’s ore production. Iron ore dispatch of merchant miners in Odisha increased significantly by 33% Y-o-Y in FY17. State based merchant miners supplied 61.05 MnT iron ore in domestic market compared to 45.84 MnT in previous fiscal.
Iron ore dispatch by Odisha based merchant mines stood at 5.56 MnT in Apr’17 against 5.53 MnT in Mar’17. The figures exclude movement for export and dispatches of captive miners – SAIL, Tata Steel & JSPL.
Among Odisha’s merchant iron ore miners – Rungta Mines dispatched highest quantity of ore followed by Serajuddin Mines and Kaypee Enterprises.
Rungta Mines’ iron ore dispatches increased 4% M-o-M to 1.61 MnT in Apr’17 compared to 1.55 MnT in Mar’17.
Serajuddin Mines dispatched 1.07 MnT iron ore in Apr’17 compared to 0.83 MnT in Mar’17, up 29% M-o-M. Iron ore dispatches of state owned miner – OMC reduced by 16% M-o-M to 0.37 MnT in Apr’17.
