Russia Scrap Export Down 52%, Q1 2017

Russia is one of the top 5 scrap exporters in the world. It exports around 5.5 MnT of scrap annually. Russian scrap export has dipped down in the first quarter of 2017. 0.22 MnT of ferrous scrap was exported in the month of Mar’17

Country’s export in the first quarter were around 0.65 MnT which is down by a huge margin of 52% as compared to the last quarter of 2016 with export of 1.36 MnT of scrap. Whereas if exports were to be judged in comparison to the same quarter of 2016, the exports are down by 36% as 1.03 MnT was exported in Q1 2016 and 0.65 MnT in Q1 2017.

The largest export destination was Turkey importing 0.24 MnT in Q1 2017 which was 0.53 MnT in Q4 2016, dropping 55%. The other major export destination were Republic of Korea, Spain, Greece and Netherlands.
