Govt to invest Rs. 21,756 cr for steel PSU

An investment of Rs 21,756 cr has been proposed  by the Government for public sector
steel units which was revised to Rs.16,828 with a view to boosting their
capacity expansion programmes.

Finance
Minister Pranab Mukherjee has estimated Rs. 14,500 cr investment in Steel
Authority of India (SAIL), Rs 1,942 crore in Rashtriya Ispat Nigam (RINL), Rs
4,655 crore in NMDC, Rs 409 crore in KIOCL and Rs 208 crore in Managanese Ore
India Ltd among others in the union budget 2012-13.

A major portion of Rs 4,717 cr will go to Bhilai Steel Plant and Rs. 1,215 crore to
Durgapur Steel Plant from the Rs. 14,500 cr investment proposed in SAIL. SAIL's
Rourkela plant will get Rs 3,200 cr, Bokaro Rs 1,980 crore and IISCO Rs
2,615 cr. Rs 340
cr has been allocated to the 
raw material division of the company. 

The
Finance Ministry has allocated Rs 1,942 cr to RINL for expansion of its
production capacity.

Out
of the Rs 4,655 cr outlay for NMDC, Rs 3,513 cr has been earmarked for
its 3 million tonne per annum steel plant in Chhattisgarh.
