Pakistan: Amreli Steels Limited Announce Its Expansion Plans

Amreli Steels Limited based in Pakistan, announced its phase two expansion plan. According to the company officials the company has planned to increase its steel melting capacity at Dhabeji (Pakistan) and S.I.T.E Karachi.

At Dhabeji the company said it would increase it capacity for making Billets from 400,000 to 600,000 tons per annum to complete in FY 17-18. Increase in Rolling mill capacity for making Rebars from 300,000 to 425,000 tons per annum to complete within the timeline FY 17-18. Increase in Rolling Mill capacity at S.I.T.E Karachi for making Rebars from 180,000 to 325,000 tons per annum to be completed within the timeline FY 17-18. All these expansion would lead to a total Rebar production of 750,000 tons per annum

According to The Managing Director at Amreli Steels Limited, “The expansion of the company will further enhance the supply of quality Rebars which would contribute more towards the infrastructure development of the country. He also added that the company has invited Technical consultants of international repute so that they could bid for the final selection by the end of May’17. This would commence the expansion as early as possible.”

The second phase of expansion is expected to complete sooner at a much lower capital expenditure as the assets which are installed in the company would be upgraded other than establishing new machinery altogether. The company is expecting that the upgradation would not hamper the production of the company and is planning to take full advantage of construction expansion going on in the country.

The total production of crude steel from Pakistan is 3.5 MnT. Amreli Steels Limited is One of the largest crude steel producers of the country producing almost 0.4 MnT (more than 12%) per annum. Expansion of the production capacity of the country would certainly add to the countries total steel production.
