Bulk shipping freight rates are expected to remain range bound in the coming week, in which cargo shipping activity will slowly gain momentum as the Australian ports are resuming operations after the disruption occurred after the Debbie cyclone.
All the ports impacted by the cyclone are expected to be fully operational by the end of the next week, cargo shipping activity will thus attain momentum.

The Baltic Dry Index has fallen to 1,195 points, as on 22Apr’17, from 1,294 points, as on 18 Apr’17, as demand for cargo vessels was muted due to the disruption in the Australian ports. The index is an indicator of global movement in freight rates in respect to all types of vessels, carrying all kinds of commodities, including coal and iron ore.
